To promote the high-quality development of language education exchange and cooperation between China and foreign countries, and train high-caliber translators and interpreters in Chinese worldwide, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has launched the Master Program in Translation and Interpreting for International Students.

This program is implemented in collaboration with 9 Chinese universities, including Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Beijing International Studies University (BISU), Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL), University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), and Xi'an International Studies University (XISU). The primary objective of the program is to cultivate a cohort of highly skilled translators and interpreters proficient in both their native languages and Chinese, while also being equipped with extensive knowledge and a global perspective.

Categories

Master's Program in Translation and Interpreting in China supports outstanding overseas students to pursue master's degrees in translation and interpreting at Chinese universities for 2-3 academic years.

Joint Master's Program in Translation and Interpreting supports students officially registered for the master's programs from overseas partner universities of Chinese universities, and overseas members of the Conférence Internationale Permanente d'Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interprètes (CIUTI) to study in China for one semester or one academic year in general.

Educational resources: Applicants will benefit from comprehensive training and mentorship provided by renowned Chinese universities specializing in translation and interpreting. While studying in China, applicants will have access to a diverse range of translation and interpreting courses and practicing opportunities. They will receive guidance from accomplished instructors and seasoned practitioners. Additionally, applicants will have opportunities to meet and interact with their Chinese and international peers.

Future development: The graduates have priority in receiving follow-up support from other programs of CLEC, including further study in China, publication of translated works, and participation in international academic conferences.

Qualifications

1. Non-Chinese nationals;

2. Non-native Chinese speaker with at least a score of 180 for HSK Level 6, or equivalent Chinese proficiency;

3. The highest academic degree obtained shall be a bachelor's degree or above in Chinese language, translation, or related fields;

4. No more than 40 years old (born on or after September 1, 1985).
